Ha ha, Hello unproduced script fans. I thought I’d given you all my unproduced scripts (and maybe I already did this one, but I don’t think so). Here’s another year’s work that led to nothing! This one based on one of my first Edinburgh shows, Ra- Ra- Rasputin, but with much more scope and an unrealistic amount of expense.
I have a feeling I had a couple of goes at this one, but this is the version that I’ve found, this final draft written in April 2013 when David Cameron was PM and including a few topical or mildly topical gags when comparing 1916 to the 2000s. I think I wanted Nick Helm to play Rasputin.
This script has a bit of promise I think - Rasputin is Fleabagging before Fleabag thought about it- and though the breaking the fourth wall and messing around with the artifice of it all gets a bit annoying, I think I could have got the balance right if we’d gone into production. There’s definitely something in there and the song and dance numbers would have been fab! If whoever commissioned this one had a billion pounds. Maybe I should get on to Netflix.
I wish I lived in the world where this had been made though. It might have been a failure, but it would have been a glorious one!
Anyway, just one of a million Rasputin projects that didn’t get anywhere, but at least I didn’t lose £45,000 on this one like I did on my 2015 Edinburgh play!
If you want to read it then become a paid sub. Nearly everything is free on here, but I think it’s fair to reward those of you who have been kind enough to pay.
