Your last para reminded me of one of my favourite lyrics

From Kae Tempest, last refrain from "We Die" :

We die so the others can be born

We age so the others can be young

The point of life is live, love

If you can, then pass it on

Your Mum looks like such a lovely lady , you must be a devastating disappointment to her considering how well your siblings have done, also I travelled 3 mile to see you in Stockton on tees, didn’t even get a shoutout or owt.

A perfectly reasonable response to a nasty comment by me. Your mum does look lovely though.

Spend as much time with your parents as you can. I lost both my Mum and Mothering law over Christmas and miss the conversations about day to day events, its the simple thing you miss

I have travelled back in time from the year 2250 to gather primary evidence about the first decades of RHLSTP, which has become the cornerstone of our form of government. Beat that, Japanese lady.

I paid closer attention to the differing proportions of my older two sons at lunch today. The older one is 5ft 11, the other 5ft 6. Their forearms are the same length, (though the older has longer hands), and their torsos are almost the same. So, the oldest carries his extra height in his legs - which tracks, because I recall now his father (6ft 1 or 2) observing the fifteen yr old’s legs being as long as his own.

My 13yr old is a couple of inches shorter than me but has had bigger hands and feet than me for at least a year. Which is especially disconcerting because my brain still thinks he’s 7.

Great post.

Barbara looks in her 60s or 70s still. Are we sure about her real age? No wonder Ally is obsessed with a much younger woman than him.

To be fair I travelled from Australia to see your podcast back in 2023.

I became a great uncle in my mid-20s. I suspect I’ll be a great great uncle before I’m 50.

How did that work??

My wife’s sister is nearly 20 years older than her, and had kids (my nephews) fairly young, which meant that we are practically the same age. The eldest of those also had kids fairly young, so by the time I was about 26, I had a great-niece. She is now about 19, and if she has a baby any time in the next 5-6 years (quite likely), I’ll be a great great uncle before I’m 50.
