I well remember the Collings and Herrin podcasts, in fact it is through them that I was introduced to you and your work. I started listening as your name was familiar to me because my sons used to watch you and Stewart on TV. I've been to several of your shows but have never got to RHLSTP, as I live in the Midlands and regularly going up to London to live shows is a bit too much for me these days, I'm 75 you know...!
I am a great admirer of you and your work - keep it up!
I can't believe only 100 or so turned up to watch Doon and Fern; what a shame. I guess there are normal ebbs and flows and it's a Monday, although with new fangled work patterns and flexibility, that can't really be an excuse anymore, surely? Especially in London. I have an excuse in that I'm 10,000 km away, but those fuckers milling around wasting their time in the nearby M&M store do not!
It's definitely trickier post-covid, but Edmondson and Sheen sold out and I suspect next Monday's will now we've announced James Acaster. It's very unpredictable though, what RHLSTP fans will go for. There are 20 milliion people in London and I only need 400 (but we did usually get 300+ before Covid, so I think that's probably the sea change)
A pedant will be along soon to suggest that the population of London has not quite yet reached the giddy heights of 20 million. My expat life means I've only been to one RHLSTP years ago...Jessica Hynes and ?? Can't remember.
Jeez! Three of my favourites and less than SRO☹️. Out here in the sticks and waiting for returns to Monmouth and Hereford. Waiting impatiently for podcasts.
I am coming back to the UK after 13 yrs next summer. A RHLSTP is the top of my list! I really hope you’re still going!!!
(Along with checking as many Hertfordshire fields for cairns - could I break a rule of ftone clearing and clear a single ftone from another man’s field?!)
“the audience is really an extra character in this podcast and are, I believe, the reason we get such good anecdotes and revelations from the guests. The atmosphere is so great that people open up and funny people thrive on laughs.”
This is what differentiates it and makes RHLSTP (RHLSTP!), for me, much better than many other interview format podcasts. It’s like a live mix of interview and stand-up that just works so well.
I was there Monday it is only 25 minutes from door to door. Cheap and entertaining. So surprised by the low turn out. Felt less than for Peter two weeks ago.
Shame it wasn't fuller for those guests. Sounds like the lockdowns changed something in people's habits, with the cost of living as an additional effect. It's a shame but not in your control. Those podcasts that get Albert Hall level crowds do that for special one offs of course, whereas yours are more frequent. The crowd in Cambridge when you were there a few years back was pretty decent as I recall (for Olga Koch and Max and Ivan), so I'm hoping your regional shows sell better. (Thought this was a couple of years ago, but just Googled it and it looks like it was 2019 so what do I know!)
I've been listening to your podcasts since the start, and I only have one that I've been listening to consistently for longer. Started listening to Cinecast, a Chicago-based movie podcast which became Filmspotting, in April 2005. Makes me feel old!
What a shame it wasn't full - Doon and Fern are both brilliant. I'm up North so it's not handy to attend and I guess London offers a lot of things to do even on a Monday.

I am including commutable areas of Greater London etc.

Yes I think fewer than came for Peter and was surprised how low the numbers were for that one too. RHLSTP fans are an unpredictable bunch.
